The exhibition Pioneers highlights art created by women whose work played a leading role in the development of artistic modernity during the first half of the 20th century. This exhibition covers several fine art movements from Fauvism to Cubism and Surrealism as well as architecture, design, literature, dance and fashion. The Theater of Emotions | Musée Marmottan Monet |April 13 - August 21, 2022

This exhibition brings together approximately eighty works dating from the Middle Ages to present day whose subject matter hinges on the artist’s attempt to represent and capture emotions. The viewer will discover the role of aesthetic treatises dealing with the evocation of emotions through pieces by Dürer, Greuze and La Tour. The exhibition shows the shift that took place in art history, allowed the representation of emotion to transcend physical representation.



Simon Hentaï: The Centenary Exhibition | Louis Vuitton Foundation | May 18 – August 29, 2022

The Louis Vuitton Foundation is celebrating the centenary of Simon Hentaï’s birth (1922-2008) with a magnificent retrospective dedicated to this iconic abstract artist. More than 130 pieces will be on display, many of which have never been exhibited for public viewing. The exhibition will also feature pieces by artists that had an influence on Hentaï’s work, including Jackson Pollock and Henri Matisse.

The Cité du Vin in Bordeaux attempts to answer this unusual, but nevertheless relevant question: What role did wine and alcohol have in Pablo Picasso’s work? The answer can be found in this exhibition that reunites 80 pieces on loan from the Picasso museums in Paris and Barcelona.



Raoul Dufy: A Passion for Color | Hôtel de Caumont, Aix-en-Provence | May 5 - September 18, 2022

This exhibition featuring works by the painter Raoul Dufy is being held in the sumptuous architectural setting of the Hôtel de Caumont. The show will feature watercolors, paintings, drawings and ceramics. This undisputed master of color was initially influenced by the Impressionists Claude Monet and Eugène Boudin. His later work was influenced by the strong colors and bold lines of Henri Matisse and the Fauves.



Fernand Léger | Musée Soulages, Rodez | June 11 - November 6, 2022

The Soulages museum is an architectural work of art itself. This solo exhibition features work by Fernand Léger, whose motto was: "Seize life with the body." This is a great opportunity to discover the work of this cubist painter whose artistic vision was inspired by Braque and Picasso. The pieces on display are on loan from the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Fernand Léger National Museum in Biot.
