Catherine Seher
Catherine Seher was born in Paris and she is a graduate of the Beaux-Arts School in Paris.
Her paintings provoke strong and chaotic feelings among viewers; her characters are integrated in landscapes in which the borders and the recognizable landmarks are deleted.
The anonymous silhouettes suggest a deconstructed world, but a world that still has meaning. We enter a universe of unique thoughts. The viewers are at first questioned, and then they become personally concerned by these images that suggest spontaneous, almost magic expressions. One can find in this universe the power of original gestures and the most intimate shapes.
Catherine Séher?s perspective is audacious, it doesn?t make any concessions, it doesn?t leave us alone, asleep in a false sweetness. She translates into images a story that is intense and doesn?t authorize us to avoid its impact. We are face to face with something that troubles us.
The weird characters call us and their eyes guide us to unavoidable events that will happen. There is a guideline we must identify and pick up, like a ray of light that twirls around the picture? that?s Ariadne?s thread, in tension and willing to lead us?
