Christo & Jeanne Claude: Centre Pompidou, March 18 – June 15, 2020

Christo and Jeanne Claude, two key figures in contemporary art, will be in the spotlight at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Christo Vladimiroff Javacheff, born in 1935 in Bulgaria, and Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon (1935-2009) were a married couple that were known for their environmental works of art. Some of their most well known projects are Surrounded Islands and Pont Neuf. For the first they surrounded eleven islands in Miami Bay with pink polypropylene floating fabric and for the latter they wrapped Paris’ Pont Neuf with colored polyamide fabric. This exhibition is devoted to Christo and Jeanne Claude’s Parisian period (1958 – 1964). It should be noted that Christo is scheduled to wrap the Arc de Triomphe this September!



Yves Klein: Atelier des Lumières, February 28 - January 3, 2021

The exhibition is dedicated to Yves Klien (1928-1962), Infinite Blue, will be taking place at the Atelier des Lumières. This promises to be a major exhibition this spring 2020, so mark your calendars! This is an immersive exhibition that takes you on a ten minute long walk through the artist’s life as a creator. The visitor will enjoy a dynamic blend of Vivaldi’s exhilarating music and Thylacine’s electronic rhythms while taking in a selection of 90 works and 60 archived images.



Victor Brauner: Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris, April 24 - August 16, 2020

This is another noteworthy major art exhibition taking place in Paris 2020. This exhibition entitled Je suis le rêve. Je suis l’inspiration will be taking place at the Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris. It is the first retrospective dedicated to Victor Brauner (1903-1966), a French painter and sculptor born in Romania. Over a hundred paintings, drawings and sculptures will be on display, some of them for the first time since 1972. Brauner is known for his distinct style, blending Expressionism, Surrealism and Dadaism to create a dreamlike supernatural world.



Man Ray: Musée du Luxembourg, April 9 - July 26, 2020

The exhibition Man Ray and Fashion organized by the Musée du Luxembourg looks at Man Ray’s (1890-1976) major contribution to the invention of fashion photography. These lesser-known works are an absolute must-see for fans of Paris during the Roaring Twenties and the iconic American photographer Man Ray.

Upcoming Cézanne & Matisse exhibitions: Paris 2020

The exhibition Cezanne and the Master Painters: A Dream of Italy will be on display at the Musée Marmottan Monnet from February 27 to July 5, 2020. This exhibit focuses on Cezanne’s relationship with the classical French, Spanish and especially Italian arts from the 17th to the 19th century. This will be a rare opportunity to admire some of this master’s most famous paintings, including Mont Sainte-Victoire.

From May 13 to August 31, the Centre Pompidou will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of Henri Matisse’s birth with an ambitious retrospective. Matisse was a Fauvest known mainly for his use of bright emotive colors, simple shapes and bold brush strokes. We highly recommend visiting this major art exhibition this spring 2020!



James Tissot: Musée d'Orsay, March 24 - July 19

Thirty-five years after the last exhibition devoted to him at the Petit Palais, the French Impressionist James Tissot (1836-1902) will once more be taking the spotlight at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Tissot is known for his genre paintings of Parisian women from varying social classes.



Giorgio de Chirico: Musée de l’Orangerie, April 1 – July 13, 2020

The Musée de l’Orangerie presents an exhibition dedicated to Giorgio de Chirico (1888-1978), an Italian painter born in Greece. De Chirico’s work was quickly noticed by famous artists of the time, including André Breton. Giorgio de Chirico is considered to be one of the founders of metaphysical painting. His style created the foundations for the surrealist movement by associating strange characters with intriguing objects in unfathomable settings. His enigmatic paintings provide the viewer with a world of deep inner introspection.



Art: two major exhibitions in Paris 2020: Brognon-Rollin & Chauveau

Photography fans will enjoy the exhibit The Penultimate Version of Reality at the Mac-Val Museum of Contemporary Art featuring works by the artistic duo David Brognon and Stéphanie Rollin. The exhibition will take you on a visual and auditory journey through a series of installations, videos and objects that question our perception of reality. The exhibition will be on display from March 7 to August 30, 2020.

The work of Léopold Chauveau (1870-1940) will delight those who wish to venture into a land of monsters and bizarre beasts. Chauveau was a French surgeon who explored his strange inner world filled with figments and curious creatures through painting, sculpting and writing. This exhibition will be on display at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris from March 10 to June 29, 2020.
