Photo from the "Ce qui sort" series

excerpt from the series presentation text:
"... For this, I needed more than just my hands to welcome them fully. In a tarpaulin, I found the ideal catalyst for this search. It should be remembered that the role of a catalyst is to accelerate a process. It doesn't enter into the final exchange itself, it facilitates it.
So, while this tarpaulin should facilitate my research into these ghosts, it should not be confused with them. It is, and remains, a simple tarpaulin. It's just the bridge between them and me, the facilitator of our dialogue..."

Guiding idea for the project / extract from an interview with Jean-Charles Massera :
> "During the shooting, by projecting his hands in front of the camera, he deposits layers of shadow like layers of sediment that come to rest on the original subject."
> "During the shooting, by projecting his hands in front of the camera, he deposits layers of shadows like layers of sediment which are applied to the original subject."

Artist Biography

He entered the world of theatrical creation in the early 90s as a lighting designer, then began creating his first set designs and videos a few years later. Since then, he has mixed space, light and image in the field of the performing arts in the course of eighty creations (notably at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg, the CDN Nanterre Amandiers, the Théâtre National de La Colline, the CDN of Lille, St Etienne, Dijon... ). In 2019, he will also co-sign, with Benoît Lambert and Jean-Charles Massera, the show "How deep is your usage de l'art?", an interrogation of the place of art today and of our perception as individuals. At the same time, and since those early days, he has been conducting more personal research into images In 2017, he began a photographic series, "La moitié du Monde". At the root of this work is a desire to redefine the frame of the photograph, a frame that would allow the out-of-frame to enter the photo itself, to relate what is seen and what is not, what is and what is not yet, what was and what is now...
To achieve this, he masks part of the field during the shooting, using various techniques to place his hand on the lens, thus creating a dialogue between what is not seen and what remains visible...
In 2020, he and Raphaël Patout held their first exhibition as part of the I-Nov-Art festival in Dijon. In 2023, he joins the Dada galerie with a first exhibition in October 2023. In 2024, he will exhibit his work "Ce qu'il reste" at the Comédie de St Etienne.
