Abstract

Abstract art is an artistic trend from the 20th century in which artists liberated themselves from the mimetic representation of the outside world. Subjects or objects were not faithful representations of reality but were depicted as shapes and colors. Artists invented a new language, a "visual language," based on the simplification and decomposition of forms.

As in abstract painting, abstract drawing also features shapes, textures, lines and colors. The artist decides what they want to highlight. Abstract drawing requires a certain technique, a certain rhythm in composition and balance, which requires knowledge and experimentation. Several techniques can be used to obtain an abstract drawing, for example pastels, felt markers or pencil... everything depends on the artist’s will and the desired result.
