Glaze made with ink on paper 300 gr. The work represents a village on a hill.

This village can be seen as a reflection of our wanderings, lost silhouettes looking for their way. As for the vegetation, it makes its way. The stairs, which structure the image, are like a metaphor to the different passages of life.

The white of the page, contrasted by black and shades of grey, makes this village bathed in light.

Artist Biography

Born in 1988 in Lille, Paul Spriet learns drawing and painting from an early age through observation of the works of his grandfather who has a certain recognition in France and Belgium.

In 2013, he obtained his master's degree in architecture at the Catholic University of Louvain. He specializes in illustrations for architecture competitions. At the same time, he continues his apprenticeship in painting and drawing through the live model. He exhibits in 2019 in Lille.

His inspiration comes from architecture but also from his passion for nature and wide open spaces. His work is mainly in black and white, guided by the light and shadow it generates. His works could be defined by these few words: light, transparency, volumetry.
