Self-taught artist, Alexandra ISTRIA was very attracted to painting and drawing as a teenager; a gift she considered inherited from her grandfather painter.
At the age of 18, she studied fresco technique in the old-fashioned way, where she deepened her knowledge of living drawing, drapery, and the search for colours that fascinated her, which led her to organ stand restoration. Then, she obtained a training as a graphic designer and a painter in decoration where she works the false marbles and trompe-l'oeil. After having studied portraits and nudes for a long time, her influence turned to contemporary art, abstraction. She draws her inspiration from the marines and the landscapes, and finally chooses to work with acrylic to create material effects with a knife, which leads her to develop her pictorial development emanating from her feelings.
Contemporary, she aesthetically combines with the finesse of painting with raw materials. From vaporous sweets to well-dosed contrasts, our imagination blends into its abstractions and our gaze travels with pleasure to the heart of painting.
