This artwork is a striking example of modern abstract art, executed with a precision that challenges the viewer's perception of form and space. Dominated by a palette of bold primary colors—red, blue, green, and yellow—the piece is a symphony of geometric shapes that interplay harmoniously to create an intricate yet cohesive composition. Central to the artwork is a fragmented human face, depicted through a series of interlocking planes and forms. The clever use of geometric abstraction breaks down the facial features into fundamental components: angular lines and curvilinear shapes merge to reconstruct the visage in a way that feels both alien and familiar. The eyes, rendered in a captivating yellow, exert a hypnotic pull, while the elongated nose and abstracted mouth contribute to the surreal aesthetic. Further enhancing the complexity of the piece is the incorporation of a guitar, seamlessly woven into the composition. The guitar's circular sound hole juxtaposed with the linearity of its strings creates a dynamic tension, adding another layer of interpretive depth. This blending of human and instrument may suggest themes of harmony, expression, and the synesthetic blend of auditory and visual arts. The use of negative space is masterful, with blocks of color not just filling the canvas but dictating the movement of the viewer's gaze, guiding it through the labyrinthine structure of the artwork. The artist’s ability to balance such a vibrant spectrum of colors and complex forms speaks to a profound understanding of both color theory and compositional balance. This artwork stands as a testament to the power of abstraction, transforming simplicity in shape and color into a profound narrative rife with emotion and intellect. It invites contemplation and rewards repeated viewing, revealing new intricacies and subtle harmonies with each examination.
Artist Biography

Born in Kortrijk, Hildegarde Handsaeme attended the Academy of Fine Arts in OVERIJSE but remains above all a self-taught artist. Very quickly, she was able to put her inspiration on stage through a very personal style and technique that only calls upon her own research.

Since 1992, when she really devoted herself to painting, we already discover the characteristics of her compositions which make her known to the Belgian and French public. The beginning of a career that today counts more than twenty exhibitions and a series of awards.
