Artist Biography

Self-taught artist, born in 1947 in Bourgoin-Jallieu, Isère, where he first exhibited at the Salon des Amis des Arts. A freelance artist since 1977, he settled in Lyon and worked for advertising agencies (numerous at the time). Through his agent in Paris, he produced numerous animal illustrations, notably for packaging. He also illustrated the flora and fauna pages of the LAROUSSE dictionary. He learns to paint “à la manière de” to produce several canvases for an advertising campaign for Swiss cheese, as well as portraits for private individuals. In 1990, the call of nature made itself felt, and he moved into a mountain chalet in Haute-Savoie, specializing for a time in painting mountain panoramas for winter sports resorts (La Clusaz, le Grand Bornand, Praz de Lys Sommand, Le Semnoz, Le lac du Bourget, Les Orres, Orcières Merlette, Gerardmer, ten resorts in the Ariège Pyrénées...). ... At this time, he and three other artists created an annual exhibition (Les Picturales de Thônes), which lasted for over fifteen years. Back on the shores of Lake Annecy, he was once again drawn to oil painting, which gave him the opportunity to put his many years of experience to good use in the service of his new-found freedom in front of a canvas! His approach is to paint light in personal compositions, and contemporary art is now part of his research, as well as abstract figurative art, while retaining the fundamentals acquired from his work on Hopper's paintings. Today, the artist works in the south of France, at PLAN DE LA TOUR in the Var, where the light sublimates all her subjects. Time will tell what the outcome will be...
