Chen Weinan is a Chinese artist who lives and works in Shanghai.
Born in the 1940s, Chen Weinan came from an academic background and studied with renowned artists such as Li Hua, Zhao Zongzao and Zhao Yannian.
Passionate about music since childhood, he was also influenced by the work of his father, artist Chen Yanqiao, a pioneer of the emerging woodcut movement in China.
Chen Weinan's work is characterized by an expression of the moment and a manifestation of the emotions that drive him in response to the subjects he faces, for which he constructs an instant and vigorous imprint. His landscape paintings are majestic, richly colored prints that vibrate with appeal.
Chen Weinan has devoted his entire life to teaching art and creating oil paintings. At the age of 80 today, he continues to travel and create numerous works in front of the landscapes he encounters and that fascinate him. His brushes are sometimes vigorous and powerful, sometimes gentle, light and passionate.
