Born in 1983 in Toulouse, France, Jazzu is a self-taught painter, his inspiration he has drawn from multiple encounters. An artistic meeting brought Jazzu to the brushes: JEAN-MICHEL BASQUIAT. Painting was going to become a need and a necessity in order to evacuate his emotions buried deep inside him.

The Art Brut was a way to reject this too full of energy. Art is a way to express his experiences, whether professional or personal. His anxieties, his fears or his anger are exposed on his works. Thanks to Art brut, he can write, paste, expose and diversify his techniques.

After being spotted by a Barcelona gallery, he continued by exhibiting in Paris, Deauville and Toulouse, alongside well-known artists of the milieu.

Jazzu continues his path in the world of Art, while remaining authentic and angry against an increasingly individualistic society. He is an artist identified as promising by collectors.

Artist Biography

Jazzu is the pseudonym of a French artist. Jazzu paints as he breaths and his work seems to be placed beyond inflluences, currents or codes. The vitality and the honesty of his artistic gesture brought his works in the same shows as Combas or Speedy Graphito.

Jazzu doesn't plan his paintings, he works instinctively creating an alchemy of colors and materials. Jazzu paints from the need to translate what he perceives of today's culture and politics ; his painting might be qualified as raw, in the primitive sense of the act, but it is sensual through its texture, thrugh the humanity of the lines.
