Artist Biography

Born in 1986, Pepita is an artist from the South of France. She discovered painting at the age of 12, taking classes with a local artist. Very quickly, the material and the gesture became an obvious choice. She had her first exhibition at the age of 14 with other artists from her group class. She had a rather classic artistic education, graduating with a baccalaureate in Fine Arts, and then went on to study at the Avignon School of Fine Arts, from which she left "damaged". She soon realized that the place of women in the artistic world had very little credibility. You had to prove twice as much, and defending your work had become a battle.

She didn't touch a brush for many years. Then life's misfortunes gave rise to an immeasurable need to express herself. From there, the pseudonym Pepita came naturally, partly because of her Spanish origins, and partly because of the Hispanic women she had observed at length from a young age, who became a great inspiration to her. She was, and is, fascinated by these women of character, who speak loudly, sing, dance and represent the matriarchy.
