Artist Biography

Born in 1967, Laurent Godard studied medicine at La Garancière in Paris. After being a dental surgeon for the first part of his career, he turned to theatre and painting courses and developed his figurative painting technique and his passion for writing.

His imaginary village, Flateurville, is the whole of his artistic work, which transforms real places into a story, containing the paintings and a manifesto or an invitation to reflection. His paintings have been exhibited in galleries around the world.

Godard's main technique is due to his fascination with Jackson Pollock's style: the majority of his portraits are conceived by "dripping". This type of abstract painting opens the curiosity to discover new characters and personalities that will appear through his canvases.

Today, he continues to develop and grow Flateurville's real and fictional relationships; always looking for new abandoned places to transform and add to the map of the village, using all the narrative media at his disposal to tell the story in a variety of ways and to a multiple audience.
