This original vintage exhibition poster, printed in France in 1983, was created for a museum exhibition devoted to the pioneering French artist and master printer Jean Alexis Rouchon (1801–1878). Issued with the 1983 copyright of UCAD / Musée de la Publicité.

Jean Alexis Rouchon occupies a singular place in the history of French visual culture. A gifted wallpaper printer, he transformed the poster industry in the mid-19th century by adapting sophisticated wallpaper printing techniques to produce large, polychrome posters of a scale and richness previously unseen. His innovative approach helped shape the development of modern advertising imagery and set the stage for generations of poster artists who followed.

The present example is preserved in very good condition, retaining its clarity and color with only the light, expected signs of age. Elegant and historically resonant....
