Biography

Li LIHONG is a contemporary sculptor, born in Jingdezhen, a town that was once an important centre of ceramic production commissionned by the royal family.

Li is a graduate of the China Academy of Art and Design in Beijing and trained with a ceramic master Qin Xiling. His style merges these influences into a work characterized by both conceptual rigour and traditional earthenware techniques.
Among the porcelain works produced by Li, are three-dimensional renderings of recognizable Western logos, covered with Chinese motifs. Its iconographic arsenal includes Coca-Cola bottles, Disney’s Mickey Mouse ears, Nike swoosh, Apple’s bitten apple, and McDonald’s logo.

These works reflect Li’s education in China following the Cultural Revolution, with the influx of American products and brands into the country.
