Biography

French painter.

With his latest creations, his Curiosities, he has recovered and recycled unloved objects to rehabilitate them into works of art. Assembling, dialogue between objects from different stories, he was a real master of orchestra by mixing colors, shapes, periods to sublimate the curious side of the cabinet.

Ancestor of museums and museums, cabinets of curiosities offer objects created or modified by man (Artificialia or Mirabilia), stuffed animals, dried insects, skeletons, shells, fossils, etc. (Naturalia), plants and exotic animals (Exotica) or even scientific instruments (Scientifica). Here Jean-Luc Desset brings together, stores and exhibits collected objects that he traps in formwork to provoke an interaction that is both unexpected and relevant.

"I want to freeze in time, I want to be immortal or cartoonish" JL DESSET

His paintings are how he sees life. He had a fear of anything that ages and dies. He struggled by freezing characters, objects on canvas so that nothing would disappear. He keeps from his childhood years the references to the world of Disney, to the Japanese Kawaï. Witness of his time, the artist combines the colorful universe, this full of images, hence his JL-POP series where he stages himself. He wanted to pay homage to the images and utopias of his childhood.
