Caroline Degroiselle

Born in Paris, Caroline Degroiselle moved to Nouméa, New Caledonia, the antipodes of France, at an early age. Immersed in the warmth and vibrant colors of her island and the lagoon, Caroline draws her creative strength, her joie de vivre, the luminosity of her palette, her ardor of emotion and her breadth of gesture. Self-taught, this artist possesses the charm of a freedom that transfigures reality. As she says: "I have no rules for color and light, sun, water and wind... they are just the caresses of my heart".

In 1984, Caroline offered the Caledonian public her first exhibition in Nouméa. Art professionals soon took notice of this self-taught painter's highly personal style.
