Biography

A master in the practice of drawing and painting, Jérôme Devimes explores the three-dimensional universe for the exhibition Never been to Tahiti . Using drawing as his favorite tool, the artist is attentive to all the elements around him. The landscape and nature are at the center of his concerns, particularly in their relationships to the body, their possible interactions and their mutations. The artist attempts to “become one” with nature, to record it, modify it or become it. “What can we do with the clouds in Wales but recreate storms? Experience the sweet sensation of being caught when walking on marshy terrain. What can we do with all these trampled flowers other than being “digested” in our turn? » he asks. The line is precise, almost scientific, but the results are false analyses, whether human, plant or hybrid. Often drawing his references from classical practices such as the drawings of Ingres, Millais' Ophelia or the myths of Daphne or Narcissus, Jérôme Devimes thus immerses the visitor in a universe full of mystery, poetry and depth.
