Biography

Cédrix Crespel is a French painter born on February 9, 1974. He started working as a designer in an engineering office and then as an art gainier. He switched jobs very quickly, as he wanted to do more creative work, and he got into industrial and interior design, music and painting. This unusual career path makes him a representative of a generation of artists influenced by pop, rock and urban culture, open towards its own time. His work is very contemporary and it seduces the viewers through the richness of its analysis and through its energy.

His style is easy to recognize from the first look: it is unique, hot, modern, rich and accessible at the same time. Even though it appears to be linear, Crespel?s work isn?t easy to interpret and constantly renews itself. The artist is interdisciplinary and has the capacity to draw inspiration from everything that surrounds him for depicting his favorite theme, the woman.

Solitary and mysterious in the beginning, then liberated from all norms in "Mes Amies", and mythical in "BullS, HOrseS and GirlX", the woman is honored with every brush stroke. His paintings convey sensuality and eroticism, without any vulgarity. Crespel transcends the codes of the genre, integrating the explicit in his work. The poses are clear, the bodies are depicted in all their details. No pornography though. Crespel shows things without any hypocrisy, suggesting and evoking them at the same time. The overlapping of the layers and the richness of the compositions add to the illusion in the paintings and to the elegance of his artistic gesture.

By appropriating the contemporary dynamism that he associates with a total freedom of tone, by exploring different facets of the concept of femininity, he has been able to master the codes of the twenty-first century and draw the portrait of the modern woman.
