Biography

Aykaz Arzumanyan, was born in Armenia in Yerevan (1977-), capital and cultural, artistic and industrial center of the country. It was at the foot of Mount Ararat where Noah ran aground his ark and by the Hrazdan river, that he spent all his childhood. As a teenager, he left his hometown to follow his parents in the direction of Moscow. A new capital where he puts his luggage there. At MGOU University, he studied law, specialized in art law and graduated in 1999.

In his various jobs, he supports artists and is in contact with galleries for the organization of international exhibitions. In doing so and in contact with them, he ends up learning the different techniques used by the greatest artists. His eye is refined and his sensitivity increases. All these years of accompanying and frequenting artists gave birth to the desire to create works himself.

After several trips to France as part of his profession, he decided in 2004 that it was here, near Paris, that he was going to meet his new life.

He gives up his profession as a lawyer and headlong into that of art. It is now more than ten years that he settled in his workshop in Torcy. Every day facing his canvas, after much trial and error and obstinacy, he ends up inventing a technique which today allows him to express what he feels and which pushes him to search relentlessly. Wouldn't it be the last image of Yerevan inscribed in the window of the plane that took him away from his city and his early youth that would have permeated the imagination of the young adolescent that he was?

Today, a recognized visual artist and painter, he continues to explore techniques and materials. His workshop is a laboratory. He knows that his style, which he has taken years to develop, has no room for error. Each touch of paint applied with his knife on the canvas has the precision of the watchmaker. At the slightest misstep, the entire canvas is to be taken back. The exceptional thoroughness with which he works there should not prevent him from filling his work with love and mystery. For that, he understood that time is his ally and as soon as he feels his arm tremble, he stops, puts down his knife and will only come back to the work completely available for his painting.

His works are inimitable, they bring happiness and joy. Every moment of the day, they smile at you differently. Depending on the position of the sun's rays, the relief of each touch of color casts its shadow on the neighboring touch and plays with its nuances.
His paintings can only give a poor rendering in photography or reproduction. They are to be seen, I would say almost to touch ... eyes.
