Valérie Crausaz

Valérie Crausaz is just 40 years old, she has been painting with a relentlessness and sincerity without equal for 20 years. This energy is all the more exemplary as it unfolds in the solitude of young artists in Nîmes deprived of prospective galleries and in the indifference of institutions. She has taken her fate into her own hands and regularly holds exhibitions with other young women (Catherine Hachon, Anne Pons...) in their studios to try to shake up the local lethargy. Not in vain, since she was able to convince some amateurs who became faithful. But her painting is too strong, too carnal, not light enough, not discursive enough to enter the worldly conversations or the distanced postures of the endless duchampian posterity.
