Biography

Alain LLUG found refuge at a very young age in the bowels of the Provençal land. Each of his paintings is a personal vision of Provence. The relationship between the colours plays a large part in this dazzling luminosity. He undeniably works to perfection with nuances and contrasts. He paints with a knife using a totally personal technique. First of all, he spreads the colour in flat and smooth surfaces. Then, with the edge of the knife, he marks the details and the shapes. In this way he builds and gives life to the work by handling his tool in the direction of movement. In a more contemporary and very personal style, flowers and fruits that the painter sculpts on his canvas create a sensation of space, coming closer to a figurative abstraction that impresses and enchants us. For forty years, without ever having been impressed by cerebral-pictorial experiments,

Alain LLUG has remained faithful to the true tradition of painting: exalting beauty and singing life. He has never stopped studying and loving nature, knowing how to look at it with his eyes as well as with his heart. In this world where anxiety and anguish are the daily lot, we have a pressing need to rediscover the most precious commodity: the joy of living. All the computers in the world, the most sophisticated machines will never be worth a bouquet of flowers, a child's smile, a Mozart opera, a landscape where life is good. Today, this figurative line with a slight abstract accent allows Alain LLUG to express in a profound way his sensitivity to the world that he perceives as a happiness to be shared.
