Monique Douvier

French painter, born in 1956 in Alsace. Self-taught, I have always practiced painting without resorting to academic training. I set up a collective painting workshop at the University of Strasbourg and worked in collusion with other artists for several years.

On the border between the abstract and the figurative, my gesture reinterprets the landscape between dream and reality. I work on instinct, in all sincerity and give to see a painting "mirror" where each glance can cross a feeling, a fragment of my history.

Classical at first, my painting has become gestural, instinctive and now more refined, more essential. I have experimented with oil paint, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, pencil, watercolor, ink, created and adapted new materials on small, medium and large formats. The evolution of my work is the reflection of my rhythm of life and my feelings. Each period leaves evocative imprints, free for you to appropriate them.
