The sculpture shows a compressed Chanel Box made out of a tin can painted with acrylic paint. The irony is obvious in this artwork by Gekko. Good condition.

This original artwork belongs to the artist’s « Distinguishing Marques » series. Distinguishing marques, a new series of sculptures by artist Norman Gekko, is probably one of the most complete series by the artist from a technical and aesthetic point of view.

Artist Biography

Preferring to remain incognito, contemporary artist Norman Gekko swims against the tide of "sharing" on social networks and the egotistical exhibitionism that dominates contemporary art. So, no nationality, no gender. For the artist, the choice of anonymity has only one function: that of allowing works to be contemplated without prejudice, thus giving them the place which is rightfully theirs in society.

Gekko's style is clear and simple: creating, by the trompe-l'oeil technique, on a recurring monochrome background a unique pictorial motif. In their great variety, Gekko's works produce a critical and acerbic discourse on the future of contemporary society. The sculptures, although often seemingly playful, however, are always visually provoking and striking.

Once you have seen a work by Norman Gekko, you cannot confuse it with any other.
